Immediately after signing our lives away we went straight to our home to relish in all of its glory. Let's take you on a tour.
This is the entryway into the house. To the left is the living room, straight ahead is the kitchen, up the stairs is the bedrooms and down the stairs is the MAN cave.
Below is our living room. Prior to today, I had major nightmares about furniture placement. Having only seen the house twice prior to moving in, I had pictured this very narrow, long living space. However, much to my delight my mind skewed the actual layout. This room is much wider than I had been picturing. I absolutely LOVE the huge window and the fireplace. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the wood paneling (wah, wah, wah...)
The next photo is the reason why we bought this house - the dining room. When we first saw this house, there was a table set up for 20 people. We were immediately sold. We knew this home would be a perfect fit for our big families! (And yes, my friends, behind those chairs is a wet bar! Let's get those margaritas going!) The dining room takes you out to the blue stone patio and the "football-like" backyard. (I'm surprised Jay and Josh haven't already painted yard lines yet. I've already heard planning of big football games.)
Let's take you to the kitchen. Though the color choice isn't quite our taste, who could resist a double oven?? As Jay says, "You could have cookies baking in the top oven and brownies baking in the bottom!"
Ok, now let's head upstairs to the main bathroom and the three bedrooms. The first room on the left is the bathroom, across the hall from the bathroom are two closets, straight ahead is the master bedroom and to the right is Josh's bedroom and a spare bedroom/office.
Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE gray! So I suppose it's only natural that this bathroom has a gray and white theme. Eventually we would like to do some work in here (i.e. new vanity, new mirror, new flooring), but I would hate to get ride of those beautiful gray tiles!
Next we'll head to the master bedroom and bath. Our previous house had wall-to-wall closets. Lord knows we will be purging many clothing items to fit into our smaller closets. At least we have two of them. I'm thinking I might need both and Jay can have the closet in the office. Just a thought!
Josh's room is up next. Originally, he had chosen what we now refer to as the spare bedroom/office. However, after measuring the rooms we found that one was 6 inches bigger and had a fan. Naturally, he opted for the bigger room with better air flow. Smart boy.
Let's check out the spare bedroom/office. Yes, we know the saying - "new house, new baby". Some day it will be a nursery, but for now, it will serve its purpose to host guests and to provide a sanctuary for me to do my homework in.
That's it for the upstairs! Let's head down to the MAN cave! My boys have been dreaming of this space. A place to get away, to play video games and to be well, men! Jay and Josh have been tossing around many ideas about how to decorate this place. Jay can finally dust off his man cave labeled boxes from his previous apartment and start decorating. I can't wait to see what this room ends up looking like!
Finally, we move on to the last few rooms of the house - the laundry room/downstairs bathroom, 4th bedroom, and the basement.
Well, that's our home! We love every inch of it! Stay tuned for a video walk-thru as well as photos of the exterior.
Special thanks to those who went above and beyond during this crazy moving process: Bubba, Ryan, Dan, Da, Nonie, Carol, Peggy, Mike and Brian. We couldn't have done it without you!
